I have been working at the same place for a year and a half and have very happy clients, but every once in a while I will have a muscular man come in and say he liked the massage but wanted it to be a deeper massage. I have taken deep tissue classes, but maybe you can offer me some advice on how to use my body mechanics better for deep tissue or anything at this point would be helpful, that seems to be the most difficult for me.

Our instructor, it was her first year, only taught us relaxation techniques. I don’t know many deep tissue techniques, and I have a hard time getting knots and hard muscles to relax. I was shown once by a substitute, who happened to be our instructor’s instructor when she was in school. I know to do cross fiber friction and compression… Is that all there is to it? Because those two alone do not work for me. Can you show me a few techniques to get a knot out? Please? I just started my job and at work I had two clients that were in pain and I didn’t know how to help them. I want to learn all I can so I can give my best to my clients. Will you help me?

It’s something I learned briefly in my second year of massage school but we didn’t get into it much. I was just wondering if you used it and if you could show some other variations but no worries!
